<After17>网络杂志旨在从女性的视角表达女性，呈现生活状态，关注女性生活。2005年6月创共发行11期杂志，集合两岸三地及国外女摄影师、插画师、设计师、音乐人、生活家，以全女性制作班底，合力推广女性创作，推广自然健康的生活态度。2008年3月，以<here comes 18>之名重新出发，不玩自恋不玩小忧伤，力图突破小我，更关注我们的社会与生活。

After 17 is a webzine which is committed to express and explore the real life style of feminie. She had its debut in June, 2005 with a collection of 11 issues covering contributors including photographers, illustrators, designers, musicians and homemaking advocates  from all over the world. After 17 group, with its all female writers and editors, exists to take the raw creativity of feminie purposely promoting a natural, healthy life attitude of females.

Since March, 2008, After 17 webzine changes her name to Here Comes 18 and requires herself beyond inner-self, beyond childishness but with a more intelligent, independent high quality and mature attitude to perceive this world.

Our story  

2005，广州。刚大学毕业仍在和朋友一起做网络杂志的Madi在新年户外音乐会上认识了刚来广州做杂志编辑的爱米。有一天在zinc吧，爱米说不如我们做本女生的网络杂志吧。即使对网络杂志已经有点疲惫的Madi也还是被爱米的点子吸引，决定一起做一本不只关注穿衣打扮更关注内心的女生杂志。

Madi got to know Amy in Guangzhou at a 2005 New Year outdoor concert. Madi had just graduated from college and was working on a online magazine with her friends. One day, when she was in a bar called Zinc together with Amy, Amy said: ‘How about we make an online magazine for girls?’Despite already being a bit tired of online magazine, Madi was still attracted by this idea. They decided to work together on a magazine for girls, not on fashion but on the soul.

借用当时Madi任职的Coldtea网络杂志技术支持，注册了www.after17magazine.com的域名。在msn上，我们又吸引了当时刚发行第一张专辑的香港独立乐队my little airport主唱Nicole的加入，负责一部分的编辑工作和背景音乐制作，并为我们设计了那个高跟鞋logo。通过lomography认识的台湾女孩Fan成为我们台湾部分的得力编辑。因为找不到合适设计，Madi只能硬着头皮拿着我们喜欢的杂志开始学习排版。

Madi took advantage of the technical support of the online magazine she was already working for, Coldtea, and registered the domain www.after17magazine.com. Through MSN, they also invited their find Nicole to join. Nicole was the vocal of a Hong Kong independent band who had just published their first album. Nicole was in charge of part of the editing work and background music. She also designed the pumps logo. Fan, a Taiwanese girl, became their main editor of the Taiwanese section. Unable to find a professional designer, Madi struggled to learn publishing design through her favourite magazines.

第一期的after17杂志由爱米提出主题'一个人'，后来证明天生杂志人的爱米总能提出很好的题目。原本摄影水平只限于自己玩耍的Madi由杂志主题摄影开始了自己的女生影像。第一期杂志由Nicole制作的背景音乐更收录在my little airport的第二张专辑里。看过第一期杂志后，杂志癖友人223在《城市画报》上为我们写了第一稿推荐。

The theme of the first issue of After 17 was ‘alone’. Time would prove that Amy was a born magazine editor and she could always select great topics. Madi started her own girls photos because she had to take photos for the magazine topics. The background music composed by Nicole for the first issue was included in the second album of her band ‘my little airport’. After reading the first issue, a magazine commenter 223 gave a recommendation on <City Pictoral> which is a popular art & culture magazine in China.

2005年6月5日，广州solo吧。After17发刊音乐会，同时也是my little airport内地首场演出。开场前半小面对寥寥无几的入场观众，站在门口卖票的大家手心出汗。而接下来的两个小时却从爆满到无法忘怀的高潮。那时还不善表达的Nicole在台上带着大家喊出after17。

On Jun 5, 2005 After 17 organized its launch concert in the bar called Solo in Guangzhou. It was also the first performance of my little airport in the mainland.  There were only a few in the audience half an hour before the show, so Madi was nervous with sweat in her palm while she stood at the gate selling tickets. But the space was totally jammed and there came an unforgettable climax.  Nicole, who was still shy at that time, screamed out together with fans ‘After 17’.

10月，广州zinc吧。紧接着的第二场发刊活动是世界玩具相机展和223的“左私右相”放片会，台湾编辑Fan也不断为我们带来台湾独立音乐报导。从此after17立志成为一个推广独立音乐和女性私摄影的平台，更尝试表达女性态度。

The second commercial activity in October, Guangzhou Zinc bar was the world toy camera exhibition and photography show called Intimacy shots by 223.  Taiwan editor Fan also kept bringing out reports about Taiwan indie music activities. From this point After 17 decided to be a platform for independent music and female photography. It also tried to express the female’s attitude.

4期杂志之后，2006年新年交错，忙碌起来的各位杂志编辑无法实现杂志双月刊的出版周期。同时现代传播集团组建新公司，提出吸纳after17作为其网络媒体的一部分。关于这件事因为Madi和爱米产生了分歧，coldtea方面的技术支持进入了现代传播，而当时觉得after17面对了一个瓶颈的Madi，希望通过全职的方式尝试是否能把after17做的更好。而爱米则基本停止了对after17的供稿以表明自己希望after17是独立杂志的态度。

In the new year of 2006, the busy editors could not keep up the publishing period of the bimonthly magazine. At the same time, a new company belonging to the Modern Media group was just established and offered to integrate After 17 as part of its online media. Madi and Amy disagreed on this issue. The technical support which used to belong to Coldtea now joined Modern Media. Madi, feeling that After17 had entered a bottleneck, hoped to make the magazine better through a full time job. But Amy almost stopped writing for After 17 and expressed her opinion that After 17 should always be independent.   

after17在现代传播发行了5期左右，内容方面没有做过任何改变。其中经历了杂志周年的活动，在广州windflower举行，邀请香港另一只独立乐团the marshmallow kisses和广州乐团mongo演出。现代传播当时任职after17市场推广的may帮了很多忙，到may离开现代传播，现代传播关于after17市场推广动作也基本停止。

After 17 published around 5 issues under Modern Media, without any changes in its content. During these 5 issues there was the anniversary held at Windflower, Guangzhou. The magazine invited another Hong Kong indie music band the marshmallow kisses and a Guangzhou jazz pop band Mongo. May, who took care of the marketing of After 17 in Modern Media, also helped a lot. When May left Modern Media, marketing of After 17 from Modern Media was almost suspended.

2006年10月，对after17杂志和公司要求是否相符的思考越来越多。又因为杂志制作而遇到当时身在台湾的摄影师也就是现在男友这件事，Madi决定开始一次两个月的长途旅行来思考这些问题。其间仍在路上制作发行杂志。

In Oct 2006, Madi thought more and more about whether After 17 was staying true to their original ideals. And Madi met a photographer in Taiwan, who would later become her boyfriend, when she was there working on the magazine. She decided to take a two month trip to think about all the problems she was facing, and at the same time she was still working on the magazine. 

2006年12月12日，回到广州的Madi再度提出辞职，其后杂志制作完全停止。在www.after17magazine.com域名下发布的after17一共11期，包括一本别册和一本特刊，分别有pc和mac版本。其后域名留在现代传播直到过期作废。After17四名编辑全部认同after17脱离现代传播，恢复独立身份。

After Madi returned to Guangzhou, she resigned on 12th Dec, 2006. The magazine was suspended after that. In total there were 11 issues of the magazine on their website www.after17magazine.com, including a special album and a special issue, with both PC and MAC versions. After that, the domain name was kept under the Modern Media until it expired. All four editors agreed that After17 would become independent from Modern Media.

2007年停顿一年之后，决定再度发刊，网站和新杂志更名here comes 18。杂志品牌和logo即after17保持不变。经过磕磕碰碰的4位女生重聚，希望呈现给大家更成熟、更有深度的作品。

After suspension for a year in, After 17 chose to come back. The website and new magazine’s named changed to ‘here comes 18’. The brand name and logo remained the same.
